“ What’s the world for you if you can’t make it up the way you want it?” – Toni Morrison
This year, Joyful January promises to fulfil our eager expectations of a delightful beginning with the much-awaited Literary Week 2024 from 15th to 19th January. As the Term II cyclic tests come to an end, we are ready to move beyond pre-defined knowledge domains and embark on a literary adventure that ignites curiosity and inspires exploration.
Our language departments are ready to unleash every DPSite’s literary spirit with this year’s theme ‘Readers to Leaders’.
The week promises a whirlwind of fun and insightful activities designed to ignite a love for language in every student. Our learners are ready to embark on a journey through words that will inspire, empower, and equip them with critical thinking skills for the dynamic digital age.
Here are some highlights of the week:
✨ Words Make the World: Literary Exhibition (Grades 6 to 8):
• Our first-ever literary exhibition promises to be a vibrant showcase of student creativity inspired by poems and prose pieces from their coursebooks. The exhibition, themed “Words Make the World,” will bring these beloved verses to life through artwork, dioramas, and interactive displays.
✨ Adventure Awaits: Outdoor Games Extravaganza:
• Senior students (Grades 10 to 12) will lead our younger explorers (Grade 4 onwards) on a thrilling literary quest comprising outdoor games and challenges based on riddles, puzzles and word games. A perfect blend of physical activity and literary fun for primary and middle school students!
✨ Leading the Way : TED Talk-style Presentations:
• Witness our inspiring senior students of Grade 12 A Level take the stage with TED Talk-style presentations on critical issues such as fake news and combating prejudice, showcasing the power of critical thinking and responsible leadership in navigating the information age.
Throughout the week, various other engaging activities such as Scavenger Hunt, Literary Charades, Amazing Anagrams, One-Word stories, Text Taboo, Spin a Yarn, Character Parade, Spell Cast, Spoken Word Poetry, and many more will keep the literary spirit soaring.
Stay tuned for exciting updates and get ready to celebrate the magic of words!
