Parents Support Group
By parents, for parents
ROLE OF PSG
Supportive Partner in Education
The PSG complements the school by aligning with the school’s objectives, supporting and strengthening the school’s programmes to improve our children’s well-being and learning.
Bridge Between Parents and School
The PSG listens to parents’ feedback on school operations, practices and programmes, and provides feedback to the school. The PSG also facilitates the school’s communication to parents.
Magnet to Attract Other Parents
Parents who are actively involved in the PSG are better able to reach out to other parents and involve them. Over time, more parents can contribute to make the school environment more conducive for learning.
Contribution to the school:
By giving your three T’s
Time
You can volunteer your time to design and conduct the school’s programmes and events. Supportive PSG members can help to make the school a safe place for our children to learn in, making school life more vibrant and caring.
Talent
You can volunteer your expertise, talents, individual interests or personal networks. In this way, parents can significantly expand the pool of help available to the school and the PSG.
Thoughts
We can brainstorm and contribute constructive feedback and ideas to improve the school and PSG. Cluster-wide or community forums are a great opportunity to learn and share ideas with each other. More experienced parents can share experience and advice with younger parents too.

Thought Provoking Question
At DPS International School Singapore (DPSIS), the traditional concept of a parent-teacher association is re-envisioned as the Parents Support Group. This group serves as a dynamic platform for parents to actively engage with the school community. Parents are encouraged to join this group to contribute their skills, participate in decision-making, and collaborate closely with teachers to enhance the educational experience. The Parents Support Group often meets regularly to discuss various initiatives, school events, and ways to support the school's mission. This involvement not only fosters a strong community spirit but also allows for a more inclusive and holistic approach to education
Parents at DPSIS have a unique opportunity to be deeply involved in the life of the school through the Parent Support Group. By joining this group, parents can actively participate in organizing and supporting various school events and activities. Parents are invited to bring forth innovative ideas for new initiatives or community projects, which can then be developed in partnership with the school staff. This collaborative approach ensures a diverse range of activities and projects that not only benefit the school but also the wider community. It’s a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering a strong, cooperative spirit and encouraging a shared responsibility for the holistic development of students.
