Finding My Voice: A Journey to Publication
Dream of Writing
I’m Dhriti Sachdev, a 16-year-old writer from 11 ISC. Writing has been a passion of mine since childhood, and my dream has always been to share my stories with the world, hoping they resonate as deeply as the popular series I’ve admired.
Starting Small
Creativity is something we all possess, yet it’s often suppressed by academic pressures or hesitation to take the first step. I would like to ask my readers to just try and start. You never know what will happen. If it brings you joy just do it rather than hoping for an audience or the result. Rather than giving up before starting start first and then decide how it makes you feel. Trust me it feels good to know that at least you tried.
Finding Support
Me saying those words doesn’t mean I never gave up. I did. It took me three years to write 150 pages—a journey filled with self-doubt and moments where I questioned whether it was even possible. Like many others, I started writing poems and stories as a child but never completed them. The idea of writing an entire book felt daunting and impossible.
I never intended to complete my now-published novel, The Quartette in Zalgoyd, until my father encouraged me to continue writing. I nearly gave up, believing that my efforts were in vain, until I changed schools and found new friends. These friends supported me, read my story, and, to my surprise, enjoyed it so much that they wanted more. What began to entertain them during free periods became a source of inspiration for me to keep going.
The Power of Community
This experience taught me that the people around you significantly shape who you become. When you have peers who believe in you and encourage you to be your true self, the things you can achieve are far more meaningful and impressive than what can be accomplished without the right support.
Find Your Passion
In conclusion, I hope that my story and achievements have a lasting impact, rather than being seen as just another person who published a book and boasts about it. I want my journey to inspire others to pursue their creative ambitions, no matter how daunting they may seem.
